The Federal Government of Nigeria has indicated that they are under pressure from the International Community to sign the Gay Rights Bill in Nigeria.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Olugbenga Ashiru, stated this as he accused the international community of hypocrisy, insisting that Nigeria would not sign the Gay Rights bill or abolish the death penalty without reviewing the constitution.....

The minister said that Nigeria does not impose its culture on other countries and as such it was wrong for anyone to attempt to impose a foreign culture on the nation. According to him “This thing must be understood because we have been under pressure about this issue of Gay Rights. It is not part of our own culture, you need to understand that. It needs to evolve. Let us get to that stage of understanding that two men can marry, and then we will get to the bridge and cross it.

But please let foreign diplomats educate their various governments that you cannot come overnight and impose values that are not part of our tradition on us. Don’t impose it on us that we must allow it in our constitution. If we are talking about democracy, democracy is about free choice, free association you don’t force values on others"

In a crude sense the international community is terrorizing Nigeria and the African continent into signing into law the Gay Right Bill. To whose benefit in particular? The Nigerian populace who don’t want it? The international community’s personal interest and hidden agenda?

Democracy is the government of the people, by the people, and for the people if I’m not mistaken. If the people have said they don’t want something a certain law, is it not democratically right not to pass such law? That the international community adopted gay right bill or a certain law that suits them doesn’t make the law right or normal.

Instead of pressuring Nigeria to sign the Gay Right Bill into law and Nigeria don’t want such immoral law, the international community should simply adopt all gays and lesbians in Nigeria, naturalize them into full citizens with full benefits of their respective Gay Right Bill countries and also fully integrate them into juicy elevated positions in the private and public sector of the society. Hopefully if they do that they won’t start another discrimination of black LGBT members. The international community should throw their embassy doors open to grant any gay/lesbian visa into their country to seek gay right bill asylum.

Nigeria won’t pressurize them to adopt her culture. It’s just someone that practices religion ‘m’ forcing his/her religion on someone that practices religion ‘q’. Let the dead bury the dead. I won’t be surprised if the international community backs under-aged marriage bill that is recently causing commotion heating up the body polity. They definitely will provided there’s a gain from it for them!

CHINA: Firefighters In China Rescue A New Born Baby Trapped In Sewer Pipe

Thank God for his miracles. God sure works in mysterious ways.

A baby boy believed to be just days old was found in a sewer pipe in a bathroom in China last weekend. According to local media, the startling discovery was made on Saturday in Jinhua City, Zhejiang province.

Firefighters were called to an apartment complex where residents said they could hear the baby’s cries through the pipes. Emergency crews who arrived on the scene could see the baby’s head far down inside the toilet duct, but were unable to reach down far enough into the 4-inch in diameter pipe to pull him out.

Rescuers had to walk down one floor below to cut the pipe free. After removing the section of pipe containing the baby, firefighters took him to a nearby hospital where pliers and a saw were used to gently free him.

The boy is in stable condition now

The child, whose name is unknown, was believed to be just two days old when he was discovered and initially suffered from a low heart rate and labored breathing. He had also suffered numerous bruises to his head, arms and legs.

Rescuers try to reach the trapped infant inside a piece of the sewage pipe. Doctors at Pujiang People’s Hospital said by telephone that the baby’s prognosis was good. His heart rate was stabilizing and his breathing was much smoother, they added.

Staff also reported that the hospital was paying the boy’s medical bills while donations of clothes, baby formula and other gifts were coming in from the community. Doctors declined to confirm whether the baby’s relatives have come forward.

Police in Jinhua City said that they “seemed” to have found the baby’s parents before refusing to speak further. Police there have also said that they were treating the investigation as an attempted murder. On Chinese social media, users expressed their outrage over the incident and called for the parents to be punished.

“More and more young parents treat their own flesh and blood so viciously,” wrote one user on China’s Twitter-like service, Weibo. “Treating a life like this is no different than murder.”

Others though expressed a desire to adopt the young boy.

Revealed: US Wars In Iraq And Afghanistan Motivated The Tsarnaev Brothers

Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev has started talking, and he said some interesting things. He informed investigators that he and his brother were not directed by a foreign terrorist organization. Instead, they were “self-radicalized” and motivated to kill, in part, by U.S. wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the Washington Post reported.

The 19-year-old also acknowledged his role in the attack while being questioned by investigators in his hospital bed, the report said. Tsarnaev, who has a gunshot wound to the throat and was sedated, responded in writing. He also suffered gunshot wounds in the head, neck, legs and hand during a late-night shootout in Watertown, Mass.

Meanwhile, Tsarnaev's condition is improving, the FBI said on Tuesday. The college student, who had been listed in serious condition at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center since his capture on Friday, is now in fair condition, the bureau said.

The update comes a day after Tsarnaev was charged with two federal counts of using a weapon of mass destruction to kill, injure and cause widespread damage at the marathon. Tsarnaev was informed of the charges and read his rights in his hospital room on Monday morning, and placed in the custody the U.S. Marshal Service. If convicted, he could face the death penalty.

Three people were killed and more than 200 others wounded when two powerful homemade bombs exploded near the race’s finish line. Dzhokhar and his 26-year-old brother, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, who was killed by police as the two attempted to avoid capture, are suspected of planting those bombs.

Tamerlan was an ardent reader of jihadist websites and extremist propaganda, U.S. officials told the Associated Press, suggesting the brothers were motivated by an anti-American, radical version of Islam.

Meanwhile, U.S. investigators traveled to southern Russia on Tuesday to speak to the parents of the brothers, a U.S. Embassy official told the news service. Zubeidat Tsarnaeva, the mother of the suspects, and their father, Anzor, are in Dagestan, a predominantly Muslim province in Russia's Caucasus.

After the bombings, Anzor said he believed the brothers were set up and called Dzhokhar a "true angel." Maret Tsarnaeva, the brothers' aunt, who lives in Toronto, also said she believes her nephews were framed.

Family members are not the only ones expressing doubt. Many Twitter users have been expressing support for Dzhokhar using the hashtag #freejahar. And just like the conspiracy theorists who claimed last week that the Boston Marathon attacks were staged, the support for Dzhokhar has been fervent despite his reported confession.

 The resident who took the photographs with his phone from a third-floor bedroom overlooking the scene, said the men ran to the green sedan, left, for more supplies such as explosives.

FRATRICIDE: Two Sisters Hack Their Brother To Death In Calabar

What a horrible thing to hear. Two sisters (names withheld) have been detained by the Police in Calabar, Cross River State for allegedly hacking their eldest brother, Kokoette Effiom Effiong, to death.

The two were alleged to have attacked Kokoette with sticks and machetes in a fight which ensued following disagreement over the sharing of proceeds from the sale of their late father’s land at Akpabuyo.

The incident which happened, weekend, at Ikot Nakanda, according to a family source, left the deceased with deep machete cuts in the head inflicted by the two sisters which led to his death.

“The man had deep cuts in the head and arm inflicted by Idak and Ikwo during a fight in the bush behind our house,” Otop Idebe, Kokoette’s cousin said.

“They claimed that their brother had made so much money from the sale of their father’s land while they were away and so when another parcel was sold they demanded that the money be shared equally among all the surviving children and when their brother objected, they were not happy which led to the fight.”

However, Idak one of the suspects, told Vanguard: “On that fateful day, we were told that Kokoete gave the names of three of us, including one of our siblings, Efangha, to a native doctor for money rituals.

“So when he came to our kitchen to cook cocoyam, we warned him not to use our kitchen again because we did not like sharing a kitchen with any man, besides that he sold our father’s land and had the gut to keep the money to himself without giving us our share.”

Giving a graphic account of how the man was killed, she said: “Kokoette insisted on using the kitchen and a quarrel ensued and while still exchanging words, Kokoette went to the toilet in the bush behind the compound and Ikwo followed him with a big stick and a machete. After a short while, I heard Kokoette screaming, so I ran to the place to stop them only to see Ikwo using the machete on him.”

Ikwo, in her statement to the police, said something different, noting that it was the deceased that trailed her to the bush, where she went to stool and they started a fight.

The suspects were arrested by the police in Ikot Nakanda in Akpabuyo and transferred t

o the state Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Diamond Hill in Calabar.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Mr. John Imoh (DSP) said they would be charged to court after the police had concluded investigation on the matter.

Witness: Tamerlan Tsarnaev Run Over By Cops, Not His Brother

A conflicting report on who killed Boston Marathon bomber “Suspect 1” has emerged. Watertown police chief Edward Deveau said Dzhokhar Tsarnaev ran over his brother and dragged him down the street as he tried to escape from the police on Thursday night. The alleged incident painted a picture of a ruthless terrorist who would kill his own brother to escape.

But a witness to the incident went on a talk radio station and said the police ran over Tsarnaev with an SUV and then pumped bullets into him.

"It's hard to imagine the money Justin has, as it's about as far removed from our life as you could get."

Justin's grandparent is unable to work as he suffers with a painful back condition and he lives in a small home which has been left cold and drafty after a tree fell on the roof. George and his wife Kathy, who Justin has not seen since Christmas, have also not been on a holiday in years as they are unable to afford it.

Justin's grandfather also spoke out about the pop star's recent behaviour after he was seen shouting at a paparazzi photographer and turning up a reported two hours late for a gig at London's O2 Arena.

He said: "When I hear about his recent behaviour I just wonder who on earth is looking after him as, believe me, this is not the loving little boy we always knew."

US Government Accused Of Hiding The Real Culprits Behind The Boston Bombings

 

No matter how thorough the Boston Bomb investigation goes, there's still some things the general public will never know. The real truth will never be known.

Hacktivists expose media’s refusal to report on private operatives at Boston bombings.The mainstream media’s refusal to report on images showing private military operatives on the scene of the Boston bombings carrying heavy backpacks prompted hacking group the Syrian Electronic Army to take matters into their own hands by hijacking CBS 60 Minutes’ Twitter account and sending out tweets exposing unanswered questions behind this week’s attacks.

“The attack occurred while a “48 Hours” special about the Boston Marathon bombings was airing on the same network,” reports Boston.com.

The tweets sent out by the group mainly focused on the Obama administration’s support for Al-Qaeda militants in Syria, but also brought attention to an issue which has been subject to a corporate media blackout since it first emerged – the presence of numerous identically dressed men who were caught on camera immediately before and after the Boston bombings wearing black backpacks and behaving as if they were engaged in some kind of security exercise.

“The actual Boston bombers caught on camera, professionals under US regime protection,” one of the tweets stated. “The US government is hiding the real culprit of the Boston bombing,” added another.

Any proper investigation into the Boston bombings would at least have to address the question of why men carrying backpacks almost identical to those used by the accused bombers are pictured communicating on satellite phones immediately before and after the blasts.

Were the men involved in a bomb drill that was reported by eyewitnesses on the morning of the marathon? Why have police refused to acknowledge that they were running any kind of exercise? Why did authorities announce that they had arrested a suspect only for the FBI to reverse the story and cancel a press conference shortly after images emerged showing not only middle eastern men but also private employees of the security firm Craft International carrying backpacks?

Why have Craft International failed to explain why their men were at the scene of the blasts? Why was a Saudi national detained as a “person of interest” in connection with the attack yet subsequently deported on “national security” grounds after President Obama held an unscheduled meeting with the Saudi Foreign Minister?

All these questions have gone unanswered by the corporate media, who acquiesced to the FBI’s demand that photos showing other potential suspects at the scene of the bombings should not be “deemed credible” and that no further inquiry was necessary.

In response to the hacking, Twitter immediately closed down accounts belonging to the Syrian Electronic Army, but it has failed to shut down accounts belonging to Al-Qaeda terrorist groups operating in Syria.

Photo: Large Sinkhole In Chicago Street Swallows Three Cars

A large sinkhole opened up in the middle of the street and swallowed three cars on Chicago’s South Side. According to police, a driver was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The cars, however, weren’t so lucky. Two cars were inside the hole when fire crews arrived. A third car, which was parked, slid into the hole after first responders got to the scene. Authorities say the sinkhole was caused by a water main break. More pictures after the cut.

Boston Marathon Bomber Update: One Suspect Dead, Second OnThe Run - Police

The Boston marathon bomb suspect manhunt yielded fruit. A late-night police chase and shootout has ended with one marathon bombing suspect dead and another on the run here, Boston Police commissioner Ed Davis said early Friday morning.

Federal agents swarmed neighboring Watertown after local police were involved in a car chase and shootout with at least one of the suspects. During the pursuit, officers could be heard on police radio traffic describing the suspects as having grenades and other explosives.

At approximately 10:30 p.m. Thursday, a robbery was reported at a 7-Eleven in Cambridge, Davis said. An MIT officer responding to the robbery was shot, and later pronounced dead. The suspects fled in a stolen Mercedes-Benz. Watertown Police spotted car and shots were fired between police and the suspects.

One suspect was shot by police and later died, but the second fled on foot, and a tense manhunt ensued.

"We believe this to be a terrorist," Davis told reporters at a hastily arranged press conference in Watertown. "We believe this to be a man who has come here to kill people. We need to get him into custody."

An MTA officer was seriously wounded during the exchange of gunfire, Davis said.

The FBI has yet to publicly confirm a connection between the events in Watertown and the twin explosions that killed 3 people and injured 170 others at the Boston Marathon on Monday. But according to a radio alert sent issued to fellow officers, the suspect who remained at large was the "one in the white hat" seen in the photos released by the bureau on Thursday.

The suspect was described as a "white male with dark complexion or a Middle Eastern male with thick curly hair wearing a charcoal gray hooded sweatshirt ... possibly with an assault rifle and explosives." Police in Watertown, Newton, Brighton and Cambridge were put on high alert as the suspect was said to be armed with a "long gun."

"We are aware of the law enforcement activity in the greater Boston area," Boston FBI spokesman Greg Comcowich said in a statement to Yahoo News. "The situation is ongoing. We are working with local authorities to determine what happened."

Worried residents in Watertown, a suburb about 10 miles from downtown Boston, were ordered to stay indoors and turn off their cell phones out of fear that they could trigger improvised explosive devices.

Dozens of police officers, many of them off-duty, searched backyards in search of the second suspect, and a police perimeter of several blocks was established. K9 units and SWAT teams searched homes on Spruce Street as officers searched an SUV that the suspects had abandoned. Multiple devices were left in the road and two handguns were recovered, according to police scanners.

The Watertown shootout occurred after a gunfight erupted near the Massachusetts Institute of Technology late Thursday. A police officer was shot and later pronounced dead. The campus was placed on lockdown for several hours, and students were told to remain indoors.

Shortly before 2 a.m. Friday, MIT issued a statement on its website saying that the suspect "in this evening's shooting is no longer on campus. It is now safe to resume normal activities. Please remain vigilant in the coming hours."

At approximately 3:30 a.m., Massachusetts State Police issued a plea on Twitter for residents of Watertown to lock their doors and not open them for anyone as they searched backyards and exteriors of houses there.

"Residents in and around Watertown should stay in their residences," the alert read. "Do NOT answer door unless it is an identified police officer."

"China Capable of Same Exploitative Practices As Old Colonial Powers" - Lamido Sanusi On Financial Times

It is time for Africans to wake up to the realities of their romance with China. Nigeria, a country with a large domestic market of more than 160m people, spends huge resources importing consumer goods from China that should be produced locally. We buy textiles, fabric, leather goods, tomato paste, starch, furniture, electronics, building materials and plastic goods. I could go on.

The Chinese, on the other hand, buy Nigeria’s crude oil. In much of Africa, they have set up huge mining operations. They have also built infrastructure. But, with exceptions, they have done so using
equipment and labour imported from home, without transferring skills to local communities.

 

So China takes our primary goods and sells us manufactured ones. This was also the essence of colonialism. The British went to Africa and India to secure raw materials and markets. Africa is now willingly opening itself up to a new form of imperialism.

The days of the Non-Aligned Movement that united us after colonialism are gone. China is no longer a fellow under-developed economy – it is the world’s second- biggest, capable of the same forms of exploitation as the west. It is a significant contributor to Africa’s deindustrialisation and underdevelopment.

My father was Nigeria’s ambassador to Beijing in the early 1970s. He adored Chairman Mao Zedong’s China, which for him was one in which the black African – seen everywhere else at the time as inferior – was worthy of respect.

His experience was not unique. A romantic view of China is quite common among African imaginations – including mine. Before his sojourn in Beijing, he was the typical Europhile, committed to a vision of African “progress” defined by replicating western ways of doing things. Afterwards, when he became permanent secretary in the external affairs ministry, the influence of China’s anti-colonial stance was written all over the foreign policy he crafted, backing liberation
movements in Portuguese colonies and challenging South Africa’s apartheid regime.

This African love of China is founded on a vision of the country as a saviour, a partner, a model. But working as governor of Nigeria’s central bank has given me pause for thought. We cannot blame the Chinese, or any other foreign power, for our country’s problems. We must blame ourselves for our fuel subsidy scams, for oil theft in the Niger Delta, for our neglect of agriculture and education, and for our limitless tolerance of incompetence. That said, it is a critical precondition for development in Nigeria and the rest of Africa that we remove the rose-tinted glasses through which we view China.

Three decades ago, China had a significant advantage over Africa in its cheap labour costs. It is losing that advantage as its economy grows and prosperity spreads. Africa must seize the moment. We must encourage a shift from consuming Chinese-made goods to making and consuming our own. We must add value to our own agricultural products. Nigeria and other oil producers need to refine crude; build petrochemical industries and use gas reserves – at present often squandered in flaring at oil wells – for power generation and gas-based industries such as fertiliser production.

For Africa to realise its economic potential, we need to build first-class infrastructure. This should service an afro-centric vision of economic policies. African nations will not develop by selling
commodities to Europe, America and China. We may not be able to compete immediately in selling manufactured goods to Europe. But in the short term, with the right infrastructure, we have a huge domestic market. Here, we must see China for what it is: a competitor.

We must not only produce locally goods in which we can build comparative advantage, but also actively fight off Chinese imports promoted by predatory policies. Finally, while African labour may be cheaper than China’s, productivity remains very low. Investment in tec nical and vocational education is critical. Africa must recognise that China – like the US, Russia, Britain, Brazil and the rest – is in Africa not for African interests but its own. Th romance must be replaced by hard-nosed economic thinking. Engage ent must be on terms that allow the Chinese to make money while developing the continent, such as incentives to set up manufacturing on African soil and policies to ensure employment of Africans.

Being my father’s son, I cannot recommend a divorce. However, a review of the exploitative elements in this marital contract is long overdue. Every romance begins with partners blind to each other’s flaws before the scales fall away and we see the partner, warts and all. We may remain together – but at least there are no illusions.

36 Year Old Man Stabs 22 Henan Grade Children In A School In China

What is wrong with mentally troubled people and shooting or stabbing innocent people who doesnt even know they exist? America is notorious for mentally unstable individuals shooting up schools especially as witnessed in the recent Sandy Hook shooting, cinemas like the Batman Dark Knight Rising premiere shooing, etc. Stabbing on the other hand, is a thing of the Chinese. Since they bent on spilling blood, they should just spill their own blood  instead of others.

Police arrested a 36-year-old local man who stabbed 22 children, at least two of them seriously, and one adult at the gate of a Henan grade school in central China.

This latest attack happened as pupils were arriving for classes. A county hospital administrator reportedly said that the man first attacked an elderly woman, then the children, before being overpowered by security guards.

Two of the injured pupils have been transferred to better-equipped hospitals outside the county.

In recent years, knife attacks have broken out, resulting in increased security in China’s schools. Many of the attackers have been mentally disturbed men, suggesting that the country’s rapid social changes and lack of a modernized hospital system may be contributing to a rising number of mental illness cases.

11 Yr Old Boy Injured As Blackberry Phone Explodes And Sets Bed On Fire

An 11-year-old boy suffered agonising burns to his legs when a BlackBerry mobile exploded and set fire to his bed. Kian McCreath, of Holbrooks, Coventry, woke up screaming with melted plastic stuck to his legs after his brother’s phone burst into flames in their shared bedroom. The schoolboy's mother Sarah, 39, doused the burning duvet and mattress and put her son into the bath before he was taken to University Hospital.

Kian’s family are now demanding BlackBerry’s popular Curve 9320 mobile phone be recalled from shops.  The phone, which belonged to Kian’s brother, Mason, was bought as a present for his 13th birthday a fortnight earlier. Ms McCreath said she had placed the phone on Kian's bed after finding it on the landing charging last Sunday.

'It was about 2.30am and I couldn’t sleep so I came downstairs,' she said. 'As I left my room and noticed Mason’s phone on charge on the landing.
'I know the phone has an alarm he uses, so I unplugged it and plonked it on Kian’s bed.

'I thought nothing of it, made a cup of tea then I heard a really loud "pop" sound. Kian started screaming at the top of his voice, shouting "my bed’s on fire!"

'It was just horrific.'
The boys' father Pete had bought the mobile phone for Mason from a Vodafone shop in Birmingham. The carpenter has kept the charred remains and has spoken to Research in Motion - manufacturers who produce Blackberry phones - about his concerns.

'If Sarah hadn’t acted so quickly that room could have gone up in flames within minutes,' said Mr McCreath.

'It was just lucky she got there so quickly. 

'It was so close. I’m shaking just talking about it. If had been any worse I could have my sons in boxes right now.

'Kian has burns to his lower legs where it exploded. It’s left them mentally scarred. Kian won’t even go back into his bedroom.'

Mason has been offered a replacement phone by Vodafone, but Mr McCreath said he wants the model recalled because of the risk to his son's classmates at Cardinal Newman School and children across the country.
'That phone is dangerous and it needs to be tested,' he said. 'A lot of the kids are raving about that Blackberry phone right now.

Teenager Reveals How Her Father Has Been Raping Her Since Age 14

A brave teenage girl today told of how her father raped her in a sickening attack when she visited him for the weekend. Twisted Robert Hawksworth, 54, plied daughter Emily, then 17, with wine at his Derbyshire home before putting her to bed and then climbing in with her.

The teenager had been sexually abused by Hawksworth since the age of 14, but had remained silent until the rape last year, when she reported the crime to the police.

The 18-year-old, whose parents divorced when she was seven, has now waived her right to anonymity to bravely speak out about her ordeal to help other teenagers in similar situations.

'When I woke up in the morning I felt sick and I felt like something had happened,' said Emily, who was a virgin until the horrifying attack. 'I felt violated.

'I stayed in bed all day and on the Sunday he kept asking me to go to town with him and make me take the Pill. 'I refused to take it because I did not want to believe what had happened.'

I was blunt with him and I didn't want the conversation to be brought up. 'When I went home on the Sunday night, I wasn't going to say anything to my mum but as soon as I walked in I burst into tears.

'She knew something had happened so I told her. She was distraught and rang the police.'

On Wednesday Hawksworth, who denied rape and sexual assault, was caged for nine years after a trial at Derby Crown Court.

Emily said she had not initially reported what had happened because she felt scared. 'I was young at the time,' she said. 'I did not know how to handle it.' Hawksworth, from Findern, Derbyshire, denied raping his daughter when he was arrested, forcing her to give evidence at his trial.

Jailing him, Judge John Burgess told Hawksworth: 'She was visiting you as she regularly did for the weekend. 'During the course of that Friday evening you and she were drinking both wine and cider, alcohol you provided. 'She became very drunk and was very sick. You tended to her and she was put to bed.

'During the night you came into her room, removed her underwear and had full sex. 'She was a virgin until that happened. This was a gross breach of trust and the violation of a vulnerable girl.'

Hawksworth split up with Emily's mother in 2001 after he subjected her to an 'extremely abusive' relationship, the court heard. Today Emily's mother Karen Atalay, 53, described her daughter's ordeal as 'terrible and heart-breaking'.

She said: 'I felt quite guilty. I felt it was my fault. 'My marriage to him [Robert] was extremely abusive but I was too frightened to tell anybody anything. 'I'm relieved that at last we have some justice. 'We have all found it very hard to lead a normal life. 'I think we have got through the worst but we are just trying to come to terms with what has happened.

'Emily, who burnt all photographs and gifts given to her by Hawksworth, is having her surname changed by deed poll in a bid to wipe away any trace of her father.
