Good people, great nation, I'm proudly Nigerian anytime. Yes we are quick to criticize the government for all our woes, but honestly do they leave us any choice? I don't feel like I need to celebrate anything when everyday I hear bombs exploding, basic infrastructure still a mythical endeavour, those in power looting the nation dry, etc, etc, etc.
But I often ask myself if I get in position of power would I be different? Of course the answer is a deafening thunderous YES! But then again you dont need to get in position of power to make a difference. Yes I know those in power are tremendously skilled in frustrating such effort with their bad leadership.
It takes great moral strength to go through the frustrating fire and bream-stone existence of the average Nigerian in Nigeria and not deviate to the path of vice for survival. They say we are the most happy people on earth, happy indeed. We just endure. I'm hopelessly optimistic that one day life in Nigeria will get better.
What have you/we done for Nigeria? No matter how little let us all join hands to build our nation in our everyday life. Those in diaspora should come home to help build this place. It wont be easy if done alone but together we shall succeed. The churches especially should invest more in human capital and not on private jets or lavish ostentatious lifestyle that impoverish the congregation. Everyone has a responsibility to make a lasting positive change.
My fellow Nigerians in the words of John F Kennedy I urge us, Ask Not What Your Can Do For You But What You Can Do For Your Country. One Abia State radio has these words "...Lets Make Abia Truly Number One" I love that inspiring line. With that I say LET'S MAKE NIGERIA A GREAT NATION INDEED
