FRATRICIDE: Two Sisters Hack Their Brother To Death In Calabar

What a horrible thing to hear. Two sisters (names withheld) have been detained by the Police in Calabar, Cross River State for allegedly hacking their eldest brother, Kokoette Effiom Effiong, to death.

The two were alleged to have attacked Kokoette with sticks and machetes in a fight which ensued following disagreement over the sharing of proceeds from the sale of their late father’s land at Akpabuyo.

The incident which happened, weekend, at Ikot Nakanda, according to a family source, left the deceased with deep machete cuts in the head inflicted by the two sisters which led to his death.

“The man had deep cuts in the head and arm inflicted by Idak and Ikwo during a fight in the bush behind our house,” Otop Idebe, Kokoette’s cousin said.

“They claimed that their brother had made so much money from the sale of their father’s land while they were away and so when another parcel was sold they demanded that the money be shared equally among all the surviving children and when their brother objected, they were not happy which led to the fight.”

However, Idak one of the suspects, told Vanguard: “On that fateful day, we were told that Kokoete gave the names of three of us, including one of our siblings, Efangha, to a native doctor for money rituals.

“So when he came to our kitchen to cook cocoyam, we warned him not to use our kitchen again because we did not like sharing a kitchen with any man, besides that he sold our father’s land and had the gut to keep the money to himself without giving us our share.”

Giving a graphic account of how the man was killed, she said: “Kokoette insisted on using the kitchen and a quarrel ensued and while still exchanging words, Kokoette went to the toilet in the bush behind the compound and Ikwo followed him with a big stick and a machete. After a short while, I heard Kokoette screaming, so I ran to the place to stop them only to see Ikwo using the machete on him.”

Ikwo, in her statement to the police, said something different, noting that it was the deceased that trailed her to the bush, where she went to stool and they started a fight.

The suspects were arrested by the police in Ikot Nakanda in Akpabuyo and transferred t

o the state Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Diamond Hill in Calabar.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Mr. John Imoh (DSP) said they would be charged to court after the police had concluded investigation on the matter.

Wife Murders Husband, Sets His Body On Fire And Flees With Their Son

A housewife, Mrs Esther Peter has allegedly murdered her husband, Kenneth Peter Anayo, and set the remains on fire.

The incident happened at about 2 a.m. on Tuesday at their home at NEPA Phase I Road, off Bada Abawonlo Street, Ijagemo in Iba Local Council Development Area of Lagos State, southwest Nigeria.
Some of their neighbours said the late Kenneth, a notorious Indian hemp seller and smoker in the area and his wife were always fighting during which they used dangerous weapons.

They alleged that the couple had a quarrel last Saturday when Kenneth alleged that his wife, a mother of one, aborted a four-month old pregnancy.

It was gathered that during the fight over the alleged abortion, Esther stabbed Kenneth with a broken bottle on his leg. While he was bleeding profusely, he was rushed to a nearby clinic where he was treated and discharged later that day.

However, neighbours said they noticed the couple’s room was on fire at about 2.30 a.m. on Tuesday, yet the door was padlocked. And when the door was forced opened, the charred body of Kenneth was seen inside the fire. But Esther, a mother with her son was not around.

A search party was organised by landlords at NEPA Phase I Road , Ilemeji before Esther was seen at about half a kilometre away from the scene of the incident.

According to an eyewitness, Alhaji Hamzat Tajudeen, Esther was arrested around Ashipa area with her belongings in a ‘Ghana-Must-Go’ bag, ready to escape with her son who is about two years old.

People nearly mobbed Esther when they saw the burnt remains of Kenneth which was lying in a way that suggested that he had died before the house was set on fire.

The deceased laid on his back with no sign that he struggled before the fire killed him.

Mystery Corpses Found Floating On The Ezu River Were MASSOB Members - MASSOB

 

A new twist was added on Thursday to the controversy surrounding the mystery corpses found floating on the Ezu River three weeks ago, when the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra claimed that the corpses belonged to its members arrested and detained by security agencies in Anambra State.

In its first reaction to the discovery of the corpses, MASSOB said the corpses were bodies of its members, who were never released from detention or charged to court by the police.

The Director of Information, MASSOB, Mr. Uchenna Madu, said the movement had petitioned the Secretary General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-Moon; President Barack Obama; the United Nations Human Rights Commission; and Amnesty International, protesting the mass killing of its members by Nigerian security agencies.

He gave the names of MASSOB members the movement suspected to be among those killed and dumped in the Ezu River to include Basil Ogbu, Michael Ogwa, Sunday Omogo, Philip Nwankpa, Eze Ndubisi, Ebuka Eze, Obinna Ofor, Joseph Udoh and Uchechukwu Ejiofor.

He said they were arrested at MASSOB security office at Onitsha Anambra State on November 9, 2012, by a combined team of the army, police and State Security Service men and handed over to the State Anti-Robbery Squad headquarters, Awkuzu Anambra State, where they were detained until their disappearance.

He said, “Efforts by our counsel to secure their bail from the police proved futile. Our demands for their arraignment before a competent court of law were frustrated by SARS officers. They claimed that the court was not sitting because of Christmas.

“We got information from an insider at SARS headquarters, Awkuzu, that armless MASSOB members detained at SARS were secretly killed alongside other robbery suspects.”

The Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Emeka Chukwuemeka, however dismissed the claims of MASSOB, saying the police were still waiting for the report of the autopsy carried out on the corpses dumped in the river.

Meanwhile, an Onitsha Magistrate Court, presided over by Mrs. E.O. Ughanze,has ordered the police to issue a hearing notice to Directorate of Public Prosecution in a case involving the Region 4 Administrator of the movement of MASSOB, Chief Arinze Igbani,

Igbani and two others (Ugwu Chikezie and Chukwudi Udemobi) were on Thursday arraigned at the magistrate court on a two-count charge of conspiracy, aiding and abetting.

Foul Play Suspected In The Death Of Whitney Houston

Foul play has been suspected in the death of Whitney Houston.  A Hollywood private investigator,Paul Huebi,  says he has 'video evidence' that singer Whitney Houston was murdered.

Huebl said he had uncovered "evidence that points to Whitney being a victim of a high-powered drug dealers who sent thugs to collect a huge debt she owed for drugs.”
He claims surveillance footage shows two unknown men showing up repeatedly at the Beverly Hilton, where Houston was staying when she died, and hanging out with her entourage.

The day before her death, Houston reportedly received a cocaine delivery but was later heard to say, “I’m tired of this sh*t.”

Huebl says she was, in fact, alluding to ongoing harassment by dealers chasing a drug debt, which had reached $1.5 million.

On February 11, the day of her death, Houston was left alone in her hotel room for 45 minutes. Huebl says it was during this time that the killer or killers acted and that he has the footage to prove it.

Newspaper Vendor Killed For Turning Down A Free Reader

 

A newspaper vendor in Calabar, Cross River State, Mr. Innocent Monday-Francis, was on Thursday murdered after an argument that followed his refusal to allow one of his neighbours, identified as Eno, to read the papers.

Monday-Francis (22), who sold newspapers around the popular Flour Mill junction, along the Murtala Mohammed Highway in Calabar, had retired to a neighbourhood bar at Ikot-Effanga area of Calabar to take a bottle of drink when the incident occurred.

Narrating the incident to PUNCH Metro on Sunday in Calabar, the deceased’s younger brother, Mr. Gabriel Monday-Francis, said his brother went to work as usual on Thursday morning and on his way back home in the evening he stopped at a nearby drinking spot for a bottle of drink.

He said those at the drinking spot had alleged that the assailant, who is now on the run, had picked up one of the deceased’s newspapers to read but the vendor told him not to read any of the papers.

He (Monday-Francis) accused the assailant of not only reading the papers for free on all occasions, but that on one or two instances, he had taken copies away without his knowledge.

The deceased’s brother said after that disagreement, Eno got angry and slapped his brother and in retaliation he (Monday-Francis) emptied the content of his glass on the assailant but after people’s intervention, the vendor immediately went home. He said his late brother, who was already relaxed at home and eating outside, met his death when the assailant came from behind to hit him on his neck twice with shovel and he immediately slumped and died.

“It was while he was already at home eating outside that Eno came to hit him with shovel twice his neck and head and he slumped and died immediately,” the brother said.

It was gathered that when the incident happened, the assailant’s elder brother, whose identity could not be confirmed as at the time of filing this report, rushed to the Federal Housing Police Station in Calabar Municipality to inform the police of what had happened but by the time they got back to the scene of the incident, the assailant had disappeared.

The employer of the deceased, Mr. Etim Dennis, said he was shocked to receive a call on Friday morning that his highest selling vendor had been murdered. He said, “We are all in mourning now because Monday-Francis was the highest selling vendor I had,” he said.

The deceased’s mother, Mrs. Happiness Monday-John, said that she was called on the phone that her son was dead and truly on getting home, she saw Monday-Francis lying down on the ground and she called him many times without answer.

The police at the Federal Housing Police Station had on Friday morning taken his corpse to the mortuary. The Cross River State Police Public Relations officer, Mr. John Umoh, said the suspect was already at large.

Umoh explained that the assailant’s brother, who was being detained, would not answer for a crime committed by his brother but that the police was only trying to get information that would facilitate the arrest of the culprit.

A 14-year-old girl has told in horrifying detail of the moment she secretly delivered her baby with a pair of scissors in the family bathroom before throttling the newborn and hiding the body in a shoe box. Cassidy Goodison, 14, has been charged as an adult with first-degree murder after police learned how she killed her child following months of disguising the pregnancy from her parents.

In a video reconstruction, using a Santa Claus doll as a model for the baby, Goodison sat in the bathroom of her Florida home to show investigators what she did.

The new evidence was released last week as part of the capital murder case against her. Police had the teenager reconstruct how she had allegedly killed her child, using a Santa Claus doll as the baby. On the ABC clip, she said: 'Its eyes weren’t open but I felt to see if it was breathing or not, and (it was breathing) so I put my hands around its throat to make it stop breathing.'

Goodison went into labor in her home in Greenbrier Village, Florida on September 19 and instead of calling for help, disguised her screams of pain by running the tap and gripping a towel between her teeth as she sat on the toilet.

Confirming he was dead by once again checking his pulse, she then cleaned herself and the baby and tucked the evidence out of sight. Shortly after, however, Mrs Goodson noticed blood in the toilet she knew had been recently used by her daughter so took her to Lakeland Regional Medical Center.

There medical staff treating the high school student told Mrs Goodson that she had suffered a miscarriage and showed four to five lacerations on her vaginal wall. Though these injuries were in reality self-inflicted when the teenager had pried the baby out of her with a pair of scissors, she falsely confessed to her mother that she had indeed had a miscarriage at home and flushed the fetus down the toilet by mistake.

UNBELIEVABLE: A Bible Student Rapes And Kills His Spiritual Leader’s Wife, Records It On His iPAD

The Bible student who confessed to killing a spiritual leader’s wife revealed to a pastor he recorded the sexual assaults on his iPad, it emerged today, as the 23-year-old appeared in court. Micah Moore, of Kansas City, was charged on Saturday with first-degree murder in the death of Bethany Ann Deaton, which was made to look like a suicide after a bottle of pills and a note were left by her body.

He appeared shackled in court today with his head bowed to hear the charges against him after he confessed to the October 30 murder on Friday. Moore told an International House Of Prayer pastor at the Grandview Police Department that he video recorded the sexual assaults on his iPad.

Despite this, he has not been charged with any sexual assault. It is not yet clear if his iPad has been seized. IHOP released a statement today distancing themselves from the ‘cult’ saying they had no idea what kind of practices the students engaged in.

The body of the 27-year-old woman was found in a van with a bag over her head with a suicide note that said: ‘My name is Bethany Deaton. I chose this evil thing. I did it because I wouldn’t be a real person and what is the point of living if it is too late for that?

‘I wish I had chosen differently a long time ago. I knew it all and refused to listen. Maybe Jesus will still save me.’ The statement, seen by The Kansas City Star, said that Moore admitted he was with Deaton at the lake and that he ‘placed a bag over her head and held it there until her body shook’.

Moore was one of a number of roommates of Bethany Deaton and her husband Tyler, who was said to serve as ‘the spiritual leader of a community’. He said he was afraid that Deaton was going to tell her therapist about assaults that had occurred over the previous few months.

Witnesses told detectives they were a part of a ‘religious community’ where they had sex with each other.
Moore told police that he was told to kill Bethany Deaton by a person who said ‘he knew Micah had it in him to do it’.

Another person who lived at their house told police Tyler had recently been ‘angry and frustrated’ and that in the weeks before Bethany’s death he revealed ‘he had had a dream that he killed his wife by suffocating her’.
Moore is the only person to be charged in the case as yet but the police said they are still investigating.

Bethany’s father released a statement on Monday about her death: ‘We are deeply grieving the loss of our beautiful and innocent daughter. We are shocked and horrified by the information now coming forth. ‘The betrayal, the subtle and increasing manipulation, and the brutal victimization which occurred is beyond tragic. We pray for the truth to be revealed.

‘While it is important to understand how Bethany died, it is even more important to understand how she lived. Because of the ongoing investigation, we do not have any further comment at this time.’

31 Year Old Electrician Sentenced To Death For Allegedly Stabbing To Death A Woman Invited He Went To Work For

AN ELECTRICIAN, Abdulkadiri Issa, was on Wednesday sentenced to death by a Lagos High Court in Ikeja for the murder of Mrs. Catherine Kate-Amadi in Ebute-Meta, Lagos in October 2006. 

Thirty-one-year-old Issa was found guilty of stabbing Kate-Amadi to death with a kitchen knife in her residence, where he had been invited to repair electrical faults. Issa was said to have locked himself up with the corpse of the deceased in the house where policemen said they found him hiding in the toilet.

Justice Iyabo Kasali, relying on circumstantial evidence adduced by the prosecution, said Issa was guilty of the murder. She said, “There are contradictions in the evidence of the defendant along with Exhibit P4 which is the statement of the defendant.

“The prosecution proved its case beyond reasonable doubt. The defendant is hereby sentenced to death by hanging.” Issa had, in his testimony, told the court that he used to go to the deceased’s flat to help her with electrical repairs.

He said he could remember that on the day of the incident, he was slapped by one of the two men sitting with the deceased at the time she went into the house. Issa said he slumped and that by the time he regained consciousness he found people in the house surrounding the deceased in her pool of blood.

He was arraigned on December 7, 2009 on one-count of murder said to have been committed on October 30, 2006.

Students Kidnap Female Colleague, Assault, Kill And Bury Her In A Forest

Two students of Federal Polytechnic, Auchi, Edo State, Henry Edewo, 21 and Emmanuel Isikhuime, have been arrested by the Police for kidnapping, molesting and murdering a female student, one Mercy Peter, 21, also a student of the institution.

They were alleged to have buried their victim in a shallow grave in a forest at Ugbor village, Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State, after killing her.

It was gathered that the victim, who was kidnapped on July 29, this year, was killed four days later after she was serially molested by the suspects.

They were also alleged to have continued to demand for ransom from her parents after killing her.

State Police Public Relations Officer, Anthony Airhuoyo, however, told newsmen that the police made a breakthrough in the case on October 17 when two of the suspects were arrested.

He added that a third suspect, whose name was given as Charles, was still on the run.

Airhuoyo disclosed that the suspects took the police to the spot where they buried Mercy and her corpse was exhumed. He said they were awaiting autopsy report.

Man Murders Wife By Throwing Her Int A Pit Latrine

Why are people like this? SO EVIL? Why do they find it so easy to shed blood or take a human life? Its so scary.

The Ogun  Police Command on Tuesday in Abeokuta paraded a suspect  for allegedly killing his wife  by throwing her into a pit  latrine  over a misunderstanding. Mr Ikemefuna Okoye, the state’s  Commissioner of  Police, told newsmen that the 46-year-old unemployed man committed the act  on Oct.  7  at Agbado area of the state.

“The Agbado Division had a distress call that a man had  pushed his wife into a deep pit;  we quickly rushed to the scene and met the victim dead in the pit.

“The suspect was immediately apprehended and we are still interrogating him;  he will be charged to court as soon as we are done with our investigations,” Okoye said.

The command also paraded an 80-year-old man and his  64-year wife  over  an allegation of  illegal possession of firearms.

Okoye said  the couple were arrested on Oct.  13 after  the police conducted a search on their   house at No 21 Obarinwa street, Aiyegbami, Ago-Iwoye.

“The DPO of  Ago-Iwoye, Stephen Iriavbijeh,  got information that the couple’s son is a notorious robber and he led a team to conduct the search.

“On getting there, the suspect was not seen but while executing the search warrant, one cut-to-size gun, two locally made pistols and 16 live cartridges were recovered in his mother’s wardrobe.

“Thus,  we arrested the  two of them in whose possession we found  the firearms  for thorough interrogation,” he said.

Okoye appealed to members of the public to assist the police with useful information that could lead to the arrest of criminals in the state. The commissioner assured them that their identity would be treated with utmost confidentiality. According to him, the police are working round the clock to ensure the safety of lives and property.

76 Stab Wounds Found Of Murdered Skye Bank Staff Titilayo Omozoje

Remember the Skye bank staff allegedly murdered by her husband last year Titilayo Omozoje?

A renowned pathologist, Prof. John Oladapo Obafunwa yesterday told a Lagos High Court, Ikeja, presided by Justice Lateefat Okunnu, that about 76 stab wounds were identified on the body of a former Skye Bank worker, Titilayo Omozoje, who was allegedly murdered by her husband on June 24, 2011. Obafunwa, a principal prosecution witness in the ongoing murder trial of a youth pastor, Akolade Arowolo over the death of his wife, Omozoje in his testimony, stated that during the autopsy, he discovered that the late banker had a minimum of 76 stab wounds inflicted on her by someone.

Led in evidence by the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecution, Mrs. Olabisi Ogungbesan, Obafunwa also testified that the stab wounds from her chest to her abdomen were concentrated on the left side. According to the pathologist, he conducted both external and internal examination of the deceased’s body during autopsy on July 4 and noticed multiple stab wounds as well as some incised wounds on her chest, arm and abdomen.

 

He further revealed that during the internal examination of the body, he found various wounds consistent with injuries from a sharp weapon with a single edge blade as well as a double-edged blade. The wounds, he added, affected the left eye, right eye, upper chest area, right chest and collarbone left armpit. It also included a 10x5cm rectangular area that has multiple individual injuries on the left side of her chest and breast overlying the heart.

Kolade the murderer

Obafunwa, who supported his testimony with slides of pictures on a compact disc relayed inside the court room, stated that the autopsy revealed a gaping wound, which was revealed as a black hole in the chest region.

According to him, the chest wall was lost due to multiple stab wounds, there was damage to the diaphragm, left side of the liver, breast area and repeated stab wounds to the lungs and injuries. He further revealed that his forensic investigations showed that the injuries could not have been self inflicted as the penetration was from the chest to the back and there were stab wounds to the stomach wall.

“The final result of the autopsy is that the death was caused by multiple injuries in the chest and abdomen due to multiple sharp and long force trauma”, he said.

He also identified an alleged weapon, which he confirmed was consistent with some of the wounds on the deceased’s body. Also on his examination of the defendant, Obafunwa stated that there were wounds on his hand and abdomen and he also had a limping gait, which he admitted may be because he jumped to the ground from the fourth floor.

He however added that the 12 injuries he examined were not penetrating but superficial and two of them might fall into the category of defence wounds though not all the injuries fall into the time frame the incident was said to have occurred as they might have been on the body earlier. In his reaction to the defence counsel, Olanrewaju Ajanaku, who alleged that the pathologist was the one that inflicted the stab wounds on the deceased when the corpse was in his custody, wondered how he could do that when he was not insane.

Further hearing on the matter has been adjourned till October 22, 2012, when the prosecution is expected to take its last witness.

Why We Couldnt Stop The Aluu 4 Killing - Police

The Nigerian police were unable to stop an angry mob from stoning and burning to death four students accused of armed robbery because they were chased by rock-throwing assailants, authorities said on Monday. The lynchings in Aluu have caused outrage, with a video showing the gruesome killings of the victims, aged 18-20, having circulated through social media.

Police issued a statement on Monday laying out some of what they said were the circumstances of the October 5 crime, while also saying 19 suspects had been arrested, including the traditional leader in the community.

“The police on getting to the scene met a mob attack on four victims who were supposedly the suspected armed robbers,” the statement signed by Nigeria’s national police chief Mohammed D. Abubakar said.

“Attempts made by the police patrol team to take over the suspects were met with stiff opposition from the mob, who chased the team with stones.”

The four police officers at the scene then called for reinforcements, but they arrived after the victims were “stoned and burnt to death, while the mob immediately took to their heels,” the statement said.

It was not clear why police did not shoot into the air or fire tear gas as is often done to disperse crowds in Nigeria.

The police have arrested 19 suspects, including the traditional monarch of the Aluu community in Rivers State, Hassan Welewa, who has been accused of inciting the mob, it added. Initial reports said that the students were accused of stealing phones and laptops, and the police said that they were suspected to be armed robbers.

A gruesome video of the attack near the oil city of Port Harcourt was posted on YouTube showing the students being stripped naked, beaten with sticks, doused with petrol and set ablaze with tyres around their necks. The University of Port Harcourt has since been temporarily closed following the tension generated by the killings.

I still cant fathom out how those boy's who weren't up to 20 years turned out to be robbers! I heard the real thing that happened in Aluu, was that an indigene of Aluu was owing one of the boy's a huge amount of money, and for some time has being playing hide and seek, dodgy games with him in order not to refund him!

And on that particular day, the boy decided to go with his friends early in the morning to surprise his  his debtor...but unknown to him, the animal had plans too. After some arguments, the Aluu man started shouting that the Uniport boys are thieves and they must be killed!

When they were rounded up and beaten, the Aluu people decided within themselves that they should be killed for fear of Uniport boy's or the police visiting them!...they took them to the village head who must be very criminal minded and told them to deal with them however they like!

      II.            Why did no one in that village call the POLICE, they had the time to walk them round the village naked, beating them and making fun of them and no Nigerian Police appeared! When we know that Nigerian Police are found in every nook and cranny of the city

    III.            Why did they insist on killing the students?

    IV.            One of the boy's dad came with JTF yet nothing could be done to save them

      V.            It was very easy for the people of Aluu to kill 4 young boys without blinking an eye...that means they've been used to killing and burning people, without the public being aware, only that it happened to students and it became known

    VI.            If those boy's really robbed, why didnt we see the laptop and phone?

  VII.            If truly they were caught with a gun, why havent we seen the gun? Typical Nigerians ties what robbers stole on their neck or waist while parading them around!

VIII.            What happened to the boy's phones, clothes, shoes, bags etc...now tell me who is the real thief?

    IX.            Some said they raped a girl, where is the girl? Why haven't we seen her???

      X.            Hhow can such popular boy'son campus, who won a silverbird talent search be petty robbers? it dosent make sense!!

    XI.            Add all these together, and you'll understand that there was a motive behind their killing!

I dont have much to say, not good with analysis, but I know that whatever those boys had done, they didnt deserve to die like christmas goats!

Only if you know the meaning of ALUU in Igbo Language....It means ABOMINATION!And the people of Aluu acted in a way that justified their name! God forbid such thing befalls someone we way!

I've been thinking for some days now, '' I can’t get myself or think properly after seeing half of that video, and it's like that when i don't even know them, what happens if such befalls any of our siblings (God forbid) or family members?

It’s very painful, I can’t start imagining how those boy's families are taking these right now, their siblings might not really understand it now but gradually its gonna sink in....but think about their parents, their mum's will be worst hit..
