UNIPORT 4: Tekena's Sister Speaks

Tekena's sister speaks,

We have heard and read a lot of different stories about how four Uniport students were gruesomely murdered. The sister of one of the murdered boys was present at the scene and narrated what happened on Cool Fm this morning. Here are some of what she said and was also reported on Nigeria Info 99.3 Facebook page.

* Tekena was given 15,000 Naira to go to school the day before so she doesn't believe he could have been involved in theft. Besides, none of the items they were said to steal could be found.

* Tekena was indeed a student of University of Port Harcourt contrary to some reports that they weren't students.

* The Police were allegedly at the scene of the incident and when the mob told them the young men were killers, they gave their 'go ahead'.

* No arms were found on the four young men as confirmed by the JTF who brought their bodies to the mortuary.

Below is the picture of her brother Tekena who was killed and now buried in the forest because he was beaten and burnt beyond recognition and according to their custom they won't be able to bury him in town. A family member also spoke.

“Yes, he’s been buried.” The family member confirmed, “We recovered his body and we stitched it the best as we could… It’s shocking the amount of brutality he and those boys endured. His body was beaten beyond repair, but yes, we’ve buried him. We’re from Kalio Ama in Okirika Local Government Area, and in our custom, if you have endured the brutality, injuries and violence Elkannah endured, your body cannot be buried in town. So our 19-yr old boy was taken across and deep into the forest to be buried.”

MAY THEY REST IN PEACE. AND JUSTICE METED OUT ON THE MURDERERS!!!

UNIPORT 4: Arrests Made Over Killing of 4 UNIPORT Students

Ibim Semenitari is the Rivers State Commissioner for Information
Guys it is confirmed that the Chief of Aluu community has been arrested and is in police custody. Some people I have been in touch with got the info from the Rivers State Commissioner of Police. There are also reports that at least 12 others have been arrested and more arrests will be made in the coming days.

Meanwhile, the deputy registrar of University of Port Harcourt, Williams Modi, said the school will issue a statement once they get all the facts - I.e, the true identities of the victims and what actually transpired on the day of the reported incident. Also, residents of the community have started fleeing the area to avoid being arrested.

Before I broke the story on Friday, I spoke with three different UNIPORT students, one of them my cousin (he was the one who sent the story to me) and they all said the same thing. That the Aluu community said they killed these boys because they stole. I asked the students what the victims supposedly stole, and they said - the people who killed them said they stole phones and laptops.

But since then, we've heard different versions of what happened on that early Friday morning...different versions! Below is another one...which suggests the boys didn't steal the phones and laptop but took it by force...

At this point, I really don't care what these boys did. Not that I condone any form of crime, but there's no excuse for what the Aluu community did to these boys. No excuse! Even people that have been prosecuted for a crime and condemned to die are shown some kind of respect. These boys were treated like animals. Maybe even worse. Animals we kill for consumption are not treated like this. So we must all rise and condemn this act. This is the land that will be home to our children and children's children.

The right to life is a fundamental right!

Police Search For Killers Of "The 4 UNIPORT Students" Sets Residents On The Run

The Police Command in Rivers State has launched a manhunt of the mob that beat to death four male students: Ugonna, Ilyod, Tekana and Chidiaka of the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) on Friday morning and later set them ablaze, after putting car tyres on their necks, for allegedly  stealing mobile phones and laptops.

The incident occured at Aluu community, beside UNIPORT, where most of the students who could not secure accommodation on the campus reside. Residents of the community have started fleeing to avoid indiscriminate arrest by policemen, especially of innocent persons.

The Rivers Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ben Ugwuegbulam, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), in a telephone interview confirmed that four persons were killed on Friday at Aluu for allegedly  stealing, but could not ascertain if the victims were students of UNIPORT or not. Ugwuegbulam also stated that the  police command was investigating the unfortunate incident, while warning residents of the state against taking the law into their own hands.

The police spokesman urged members of the public to always make useful information about criminals in their midst available to the command, while assuring that their identities would be well protected. It was learnt that the owners of the expensive mobile phones, including BlackBerry and the laptops at the off-campus hostel, complained to their friends over the loss of the items, thereby raising the alarm, which attracted indigenes of Aluu and passers-by.

The missing phones and laptops were later reportedly  traced to the killed students, who were young men in their early 20s, and were said to have denied knowledge of the development. Without being given the opportunity to defend themselves, they were beaten to death and set ablaze by the angry mob. The horrible and blood-soaked corpses of the victims were later deposited at the morgue of an undisclosed hospital in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital.

UNIPORT's Deputy Registrar, Information, Dr. Williams Wodi, when contacted yesterday for his reaction on the incident, said: "Right now, I am not in a position to confirm to you that the alleged victims are bona fide students of UNIPORT, as is being widely speculated.

"The alleged incident took place at Aluu village, about two kilometres outside our main campus. We do not have responsibility for security in Aluu communities, which are beyond our jurisdiction. The relevant security outfits are working with our security department to establish the true identities of the victims and what actually transpired on the day of the reported incident.

"The Dean of Student Affairs (of UNIPORT) is also working round the clock to establish their identities as students of UNIPORT. The university will certainly issue a statement once preliminary facts are laid on the table."

Horrible Video Of How The 4 UNIPORT Students Were Killed

I just watched the video of how these boy's were killed and it's so barbaric... I couldnt finish watching it. It was so painful, I lack words to express how

Watching those boys, no matter what they have done, go through such ordeal....Jesus...God know's it made me cry.

Besides, I heard the boy's were innocent, that what actually happened was that someone was owing one of them,  when they came to seize something that he own's so he could give them the money, he raised an alarm, calling them thieves. Now i understand why they said they stole phone and laptop! That's because if they took they dudes phone and laptop, he will definitely hurry up with the money cos no one wants to be away from his phone and laptop.

PLEASE DO NOT WATCH THE VIDEO IF YOU CANT STAND IT, ITS SO HORRIBLE!
